How we got our name..
Our spelling of Labola is a little different to the Zulu tradition.. the reason for this is because the name LABOLA is actually a combination of co-founders, Lindy & Bodils nicknames.. aka LALA and BO. We of course LOVED the fact that it hinted toward the very well known LOBOLO tradition and so it was a no brainer for us…
This is what Wikipedia has to say : Lobolo or Lobola in Zulu, Xhosa and Ndebele; (Mahadi in Sesotho; Roora in Shona) is sometimes translated as bride price) is a traditional Southern African custom whereby the man pays the family of his fiancée for her hand in marriage (Compare with the European dowry custom where the woman brings assets). The custom is aimed at bringing the two families together, fostering mutual respect, and indicating that the man is capable of supporting his wife financially and emotionally.
We do décor hire, venue set up, wedding planning, co-ordination, stationery and lawn games.

Decor & Flowers
Robyn has years of experience in the hospitality industry, she is a very hands on member of the Labola team and runs all the behind the scenes prep work, stock sourcing, flowers, venue set up and general “getting stuff done”. In addition to weddings, Robyn has a passion for food and has catered many small functions and dinner parties. The best part for us is, while we are hard at work setting up beautiful weddings, she keeps our bellies happy and energy levels up with insanely delicious meals!
